Local SEO services in London

If customers find you by searching near them, your Google Business Profile often matters as much as your website. Local SEO is mostly about accuracy, reviews and being genuinely relevant.

Google says that local ranking depends mainly on relevance, distance and prominence. You can’t do much about distance, and that’s the point: a business in Camden is unlikely to appear in the map results for a search made in Croydon, however well it’s optimised. So honest local SEO focuses on doing your best in the areas you genuinely serve.

The biggest wins are usually in your Google Business Profile. That means choosing the right primary category, keeping your hours and services accurate, adding real photos, and steadily gathering genuine reviews and replying to them. Your business details need to match across the web. Fake reviews are a real risk, because Google removes them and they’re now prohibited under UK consumer law too, through the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024.

Don’t invent an address

Google’s rules require a real location where you meet customers, or a service-area setup if you visit them. Virtual offices and borrowed addresses put your listing at risk of being suspended. Businesses that work remotely with no customer-facing premises may not qualify for a profile at all, and their local strategy must instead rely on content and reputation. We’d rather tell you that than build something on sand.

Location pages that deserve to exist

Pages that swap only the town name are what Google’s spam policies describe as doorway pages. A location page is worth having if you can say something specific: work you’ve done there, local rules, or how you serve that area. If you can’t, then one good service page will do more for you.

What holds local visibility back

An unclaimed or neglected profile

Wrong categories, old opening hours and few photos, while competitors keep theirs up to date.

Inconsistent details

Different names, addresses or phone numbers across directories, following a move or rebrand.

Few or no recent reviews

A thin review profile makes you less attractive, whatever your rank.

Thin location pages

Dozens of near-duplicate pages that help nobody and create risk.

Local SEO questions

Can I rank in areas where I have no office?
Map results depend heavily on proximity, so that’s difficult. Organic results for “[service] [place]” are more possible if you serve that area and have useful, specific content about it.
Can I use a virtual office for my Google Business Profile?
Google’s guidelines generally don’t allow it unless staff are there and able to meet customers during stated hours. Using one risks suspension of your listing.
How do we get more reviews?
Ask real customers soon after a good experience, and make it easy with a direct link. Don’t pay for reviews or offer incentives, and don’t filter so that only happy customers get asked.
