Enterprise software development
In a large organisation, the code is often the easiest part. The hard part is the existing systems, the approval processes and the number of people affected by any change.
Enterprise projects fail in characteristic ways. Requirements gathered from senior stakeholders don’t reflect how the work actually gets done. Integration with an old system turns out to be far harder than anyone assumed. Security review arrives late and sends the design back to the start. Roll-out to thousands of people is treated as an afterthought.
We try to surface those risks early. That means talking to the people who’ll use the system, running technical spikes against the systems you need to integrate with before estimating, and involving your security and architecture teams from the start, not a fortnight before go-live. We’d also rather replace a large system in stages than attempt one big switchover. Running old and new side by side costs more on paper, but it’s far less risky.
Fitting into how you work
Enterprises have procurement rules, change boards and security standards for good reasons. We can work with them, supply the documentation they require and fit into your identity, logging and deployment platforms. Do check any supplier’s accreditations and insurance against your procurement requirements. Send us yours and we’ll tell you up front if there’s anything we can’t currently meet.
What makes enterprise work different
Integration with what’s already there
ERP systems, directories and data warehouses, some poorly documented and many that can’t be changed.
Security and compliance
Access reviews, audit trails, retention rules and penetration tests have to be designed in.
Many stakeholders
Different departments want different things, and someone needs to make decisions and hold the line on scope.
Change management
A technically perfect system fails if people don’t adopt it or trust it.
What we can deliver
Discovery and architecture
Mapping processes and existing systems, then a design your architects can properly review.
Single sign-on and access control
Integration with Microsoft Entra ID or SAML providers, along with role-based permissions.
Audit and reporting
Tamper-evident records of who changed what, plus exports to your reporting platforms.
Phased migration
Moving data and users in stages, with fallback plans.
Documentation and handover
Technical documents, runbooks and training, so that your teams can own it.
